British Standards Institution, responsible for publishing national guidelines to aid UK organizations, has developed a new standard which can be used as a toolkit for organizations to build a menstruation and menopause inclusive work environment. This standard will benefit both employees, by providing adjustments and creating a supportive open culture, and employers, by improving the engagement of staff in turn also reducing the loss of staff and associated costs. Included are practical ideas and examples of adjustments which can inform policy development and inform change.
BS 30416 provides guidance on physical aspects, cultural improvements, Job design adjustments, training and communication, job design and policy considerations. BSI sees this as an opportunity to kick start change to break through taboos in the workplace and generate a more inclusive and compassionate work environment.

An initiative of The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, LeanIn.Org helps women achieve their ambitions and works to create a more equal world. LeanIn.Org conducts original research on the state of women, supports a global community of small peer groups called Lean In Circles, and provides companies with programs to address the biases and barriers women face in the workplace. Those programs include Allyship at Work, which is designed to help employees take meaningful action as allies, and 50 Ways to Fight Bias, a training activity that helps people recognize and combat the biases women face at work, and the Women at Work Collection, a leadership training program designed specifically for women by women. The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, which also runs LeanInGirls.Org and OptionB.Org, is a private operating nonprofit organization under IRS section 501(c)(3).
