9.00 - 9.30: Opening session Wake-up Call - “Why it Matters - The Evidence”

The biological business case for supporting women’s health is strong, but currently riddled with misunderstanding (not to mention taboo). In this session we’ll hear from a top clinician on what is known about the critical biological health stages for women. In her conversation with Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, Dr Michal Elovitz will share the latest research and break down the key stages in a woman’s life where we need to adapt and make workplaces more hospitable. They’ll also examine when biology is as much a productivity driver as a potential barrier.

Attorney, advocate, and author Jennifer Weiss-Wolf is the executive director of NYU Law’s Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center. Prior she was vice president and the inaugural women and democracy fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice. She also leads partnerships and strategy at Ms., the feminist movement-making magazine. A passionate writer on and advocate for issues of gender and politics, she was dubbed the “architect of the U.S. campaign to squash the tampon tax” by Newsweek. Her 2017 book Periods Gone Public: Taking a Stand for Menstrual Equity was lauded by Gloria Steinem as “the beginning of liberation for us all.” Her forthcoming book, Period. Full Stop. The Politics of Menopause will be published by NYU Press in 2025. Jen’s writing and work on menstrual and menopause policy have been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, TIME, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Oprah Daily, NPR, PBS, and NowThis, among others.

Michal Elovitz, MD, is a physician-scientist, mentor, and advocate. She is the Dean of Women’s Health Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also the Director of the Women’sBiomedical Research Institute, which is focused on understanding the female reproductive tract and sex-specific biology to make meaningful advances in women’s health science and women’s health care. Dr. Elovitz has been actively involved in fundamental and translational research for more than 20 years.Her research is or has been funded by the March of Dimes, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, National Institute of Child Health and Development, National Institute for Nursing Research, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Elovitz supports,fosters, participates, and advocates for collaborative research, from the bench to the bedside, to advance the mission of improving health outcomes for women and their children. She is a strong believer in team science and has successfully brought in diverse disciplines to advance women’s health research. Her research program has focused on understanding the mechanisms and consequences of adverse reproductive and pregnancy outcomes both for the pregnancy of interest and for implications for the long-term health of the mother and child. Her research integrating immunology and microbiology into pregnancy health has led to novel discoveries for reproductive health.
Dr. Elovitz believes that scientists are obligated to support, train, and empower the next generation of researchers. As such, she has created several mentoring programs and is active in supporting women in science and medicine. She is a public advocate for reproductive rights, gender, and racial equity.

Lucy Pérez is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company’s Boston office, advising CEOs and teams at leading companies globally on growth strategy, innovation, sustainability, and organizational transformation. Lucy is particularly passionate about advancements in science and technology, which are transforming patient care delivery and outcomes. A former cancer researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, she brings a strong technical background to her work with organizations across the healthcare sector.
Lucy co-leads McKinsey’s global client service in Sustainability and Social Impact Strategy and is responsible for McKinsey’s North America Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. As a leader in McKinsey’s Life Sciences practice, Lucy leads McKinsey’s efforts on health equity and women’s health. Her work has been quoted extensively in outlets such as Bloomberg, Fortune, and CNBC.
Beyond her work at McKinsey, Lucy is a board member of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable and sits on the advisory board for the Aspen Institute’s Latinos in Society program and the Women’s Health Innovation Summit. Lucy is an avid traveler, amateur photographer, and a co-inventor on multiple patents.

How can HR leaders move from a compelling business case to implementation of inclusive policies that shape a more positive working culture? Beyond policies, our panelists will share personal experience of how to make implementation work in practice: from management training to monitoring (without “tracking”) the employee experience.

Having started her career in consulting at Towers Perrin, she has held roles of increased global responsibility at Avon, AXA, SAIC and most recently at Twitter as the former Head of People Experience. During her time at Twitter, she led the organization through the design and implementation of global pay transparency and focused on advocacy of inclusive benefits such as Twitter’s first global medical mobility travel allowance for Tweeps and their families and sponsored the creation of Twitter’s global LGBTQ+ travel resource to support communities navigating local LGBTQ+ legislation that impact travel.
Courtney brings a global perspective to her work having lived in France as an expat while working at AXA and working in multiple countries throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and South America in various roles. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics and is a member of Forbes HR Council.

Carly Pierpoint is an Executive Director and Head of Talent Acquisition for the Global Private Bank and Wealth Management Solutions. In her senior leadership role, Carly oversees all hiring channels of the Talent Acquisition organization to manage an integrated recruitment strategy for the firm’s sizable growth initiative. She is dedicated to bringing top talent into the fold and ensuring a seamless candidate and client experience.
Carly sits on the U.S. Private Bank Operating Committee and partners closely with the executive teams to drive innovative hiring synergies across lateral and campus recruitment, onboarding, training and development. She takes a big-picture approach to identify shifts in the competitive landscape and establish tools and best practices to bring a strategic edge. Candidate acquisition is integral for the firm, and Carly ensures her team employs proactive measures to network and build relationships with key players in the space who can make an impact and be an asset to the growing Private Bank. A subject matter expert in this field, she couples a passionate nature with trusted decisiveness to deliver dynamic results.
Most recently, Carly was the Head of Talent Acquisition and Growth Strategy for J.P. Morgan Private Bank in the U.S. Previously, she was the Head of J.P. Morgan Private Bank Recruitment, Americas, after spending four years running Private Bank Recruitment at Goldman Sachs. Before these roles, Carly ran her own desk at CitiStaffing, a comprehensive recruitment agency. Carly started her career in sales and business development almost 15 years ago. She has a strong track record of attracting the best and brightest talent in the industry and ensuring these candidates are ramped-up for success.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Carly holds a B.A. with dual majors in Business and Musical Theater from Penn State University. She is a longtime resident of New York City, where she lives with her husband, two children and Maltipoo.
Carly gives her time and resources to organizations that have meaning for her family and friends. She ran the New York City Marathon to support mental health awareness. Carly continues to enjoy musical theater and enjoys cooking, sports and travel.

Ray Rhodes joined RX Global (Reed Exhibitions) in 2007 as a Director of Human Resources for the US business and became the Director of Learning and Talent Development in 2014. After several years of intensive engagement with Inclusion and Diversity programming, he was appointed the Head of Inclusion and Diversity for the global business in April 2021. Ray has launched a number of important initiatives across RX, including forming the RX Global Inclusion Council, an I&D advisory board comprised of RX colleagues from 19 countries, representing many cultures and diversity dimensions. He has developed and implemented the Global I&D strategy for the business and oversees the delivery of programs that promote unconscious bias awareness, team psychological safety, equality allyship and inclusive leadership.
Prior to joining RX, Ray served as Vice President of Human Resources for The Bank of New York for thirteen years. He, his partner Joseph, and their daughter Samantha, reside in Connecticut.

Miriam Warren is the Chief Diversity Officer at Yelp and Board Chair of the Yelp Foundation. Miriam joined Yelp in 2007, serving in a variety of marketing and operational roles, including leading the company’s expansion efforts internationally as Vice President of New Markets. Presently, she heads a team working at the intersection of culture, engagement, corporate philanthropy and diversity, equity and inclusion. Miriam holds a B.A. in Ethnic Studies from Mills College.
